Trustee vacancies: Could you help bring strategic oversight and scrutiny to FSRH’s work?
Date: 24 Jul 2023
Type: FSRH News and Information

The FSRH is both a membership body and a charity. As a registered charity we have a Board of Trustees who provide strategic oversight of our work.
We are looking for two FSRH members (Diplomates, Members or Fellows) to join our Board as member trustees. The Board comprises of half members and half lay trustees (non-FSRH members) who bring different skills and experience. Meetings cover a variety of issues; from a regular review of our budget and operational plans, through to recent topics like digital transformation and business development. This voluntary role is a great way to gain an understanding about how the FSRH is run, to influence our work, and to ensure we deliver on our strategic objectives. If you want to understand more about trustee roles in general, this short online guide from Reach Volunteering is useful.
As a trustee you will attend 4 x 3 hour Board meetings a year and an additional joint meeting with our Council. They are currently held on Thursday afternoons. All meetings are virtual, except one, which is hybrid.
Please see the full role specification here, including the dates for meetings this year.
What is in it for you?
Being a trustee will:
- Provide you with governance experience
- Give you exposure to the opportunities and challenges of running a membership organisation
- Help you develop your network
Enable you to give back to the FSRH/SRH sector
About you
We are looking for two healthcare professionals who are current Diplomate, Members or Fellows. Experience of being a trustee would be useful, but not essential. We also want to encourage applications from those from diverse ethnic backgrounds and those who are LGBTQ+.
A trustee role does not need to represent your category of membership (we do have representative roles on Council); we are looking for applicants that are interested in providing strategic oversight and are willing to bring challenge, scrutiny and debate to the Board and will adhere to our values. Operational responsibility for the FSRH is delegated down to the CEO and senior leadership team.
Application process
To apply to join our Board as member trustees, please fill in our online form here. The deadline is 12:00pm on 21 August 2023.
Note: Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews. We appreciate your understanding.
