Type: FSRH News and Information

We are looking for enthusiastic Specialty Doctor, Associate Specialist and Specialist Doctor (SAS doctors) who are keen to represent their local region on our new FSRH committee.

Our aim of this Committee is to support, develop and represent the professional needs and experience of our FSRH SAS members. We also aim to increase the two-way communication between the FSRH and our FSRH SAS members so that we can better serve the needs of our SAS community.

Who do we need?

We know there are lots of different titles used for doctors in medicine and therefore this SAS committee aims to represent all SAS doctors, and additionally any Trust or Locally Employed Doctors working in SRH. For the purpose of this advert then all of these grades of doctor will be collectively referred to as SAS doctors.

If you are keen to have a voice on SAS issues and would like to help promote SAS as a viable career in sexual and reproductive healthcare, then please apply to represent your area on the committee.

What are the regions being represented?Map of UK

To enable effective working we have divided the regions up as follows with one representative on the Committee per area. We know some of these areas are quite large but hopefully the regional representative will be able to access local networks to enable good communication in their region.

  1. Scotland
  2. Wales
  3. North – N.Ireland, Northern, North Western & Mersey
  4. East - Yorkshire, East Midlands (North & South) & Eastern
  5. West Midlands and Oxford & Thames Valley
  6. London & KSS
  7. Wessex & Southwest (Severn & Peninsula)

What will it involve?

We will aim to meet at least three times per year – mainly virtual meetings with provision for one annual hybrid meeting. The Committee will be chaired by the SAS Lead Doctor (Chair) and a Vice Chair.

Membership is open to any SAS doctor working in SRH with FSRH membership. Applications will also be considered from those interested who are non-faculty members but if successful then it would be expected for you to become an affiliate member on joining the committee. The term will be for three years.

So, if you are a keen SAS doctor who would like to get involved with our new committee then please apply using the link to the application form below. Potential candidates will be contacted for an interview, which will be conducted online.

Closing date for applications will be 12 noon on Monday 28 November 2022. Interviews will take place in early December 2022. We will inform successful candidates at the end of this interview period.
