Statement from the Advisory Committee on Clinical Excellence Awards (ACCEA)
Update 12 May:
Due to government focus being on tackling COVID-19, Department of Health and Social Care ministers have not yet considered the Advisory Committee on Clinical Excellence Awards’ (ACCEA) plans following suspension of the 2020 round.
In the meantime, ACCEA has decided:
- Applications for the 2020 national Clinical Excellence Awards competition will remain suspended. The online application form, employer sign-off and ranking and nomination functionality are no longer available on the online portal
- Consultants and academic GPs whose awards expire in April 2021 should not be disadvantaged by being unable to submit a renewal application. It will contact those affected over the coming months regarding their circumstances
- To keep plans for new applications under review based on the ongoing impact of COVID-19. Any applications already drafted have been saved
- To further update award-holders and stakeholders on its plans for the 2020 and 2021 national Clinical Excellence Awards competitions after the pandemic has subsided
ACCEA has listened to advice from the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges, Royal Colleges, employers and applicants in making these decisions.
