The updated Quality Standard covers, recognising, assessing and responding to abuse and neglect of children and young people under 18. It covers physical, sexual and emotional abuse. The standard also describes high-quality care in priority areas for improvement. Key audiences include health and public health practitioners, commissioners and service providers.

In its guidance, NICE has highlighted five quality statements: noticing significant changes in a child or young person’s behaviour, providing consistent support, representation of a child or young person’s voice, communication and therapeutic intervention.

FSRH hopes our members and, more broadly, commissioners, service providers and healthcare professionals find this guidance useful in informing high quality practice. Such practice contributes to girls and women’s fundamental human right of physical, sexual and reproductive health and well-being.
