Date: 20 May 2020
Type: FSRH News and Information

We are delighted to be involved in a new RCOG global project - Making Abortion Safe. RCOG are recruiting for a salaried clinical lead. The deadline for applications is Friday 29 May. As Dr Nicky Morgan, Chair of FSRH’s International Committee commented: “This project is an exciting collaboration between RCOG and FSRH. We are looking forward to sharing knowledge and expertise and helping build capacity. This looks like a fascinating role for the right person.”
About the role
An opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Lead to join the Centre for Women’s Global Health. This position is a one year fixed-term contract and will be part of the new Making Abortion Safe initiative which is a multi-country advocacy and capacity building programme focusing on the areas of safe abortion and contraception.
The initiative aims to improve women’s sexual and reproductive health by linking health providers to evidence, professional development opportunities and advocacy platforms on abortion, post abortion and contraception. The programme seeks to empower healthcare providers from the Global South to champion women’s rights to respectful, high quality and accessible abortion, post abortion and contraceptive services.
A key component of the programme will be the creation of open source online training resources on abortion and contraception, as well as the development of RCOG Best Practice Papers. Working closely with us (the FSRH), the Clinical Lead will have overall clinical responsibility for the development and coordination of these high-quality educational resources, ensuring that they are developed in line with the programme’s aims and objectives and that the College’s quality assurance and related best practice standards are met.
