Letter of Competence Sub-Dermal Implants – Insertion Only qualification pilot project to start in December 2018

We are running a 12-month pilot of a Letter of Competence in Subdermal Contraceptive Implant Techniques Insertion Only (LoC SDI-IO) qualification. The pilot will start on 10 December.

This pilot is specifically aimed at doctors, nurses and midwives working in abortion and/or maternity services where implant removals are not needed or carried out. The focus is on competency in inserting implants. The eKA will not be an entry requirement in this pilot but there will be other learning requirements including the FSRH Contraception Counselling online course and specific e-SRH modules.

A carefully selected range of service providers in locations across the UK have agreed to take part in the pilot with evaluation built in so that we can assess its impact.

Places on the pilot are now full at this stage and we will keep members updated on progress.

What if I am already taking, or about to take, the current LoC SDI (IO)?
There will be no changes for those taking the existing LoC SDI (IO).
