The FSRH Events Committee is looking for a new CSRH Trainee to join its interdisciplinary group, dedicated to providing strategic oversight for the FSRH events programme.

The Events Committee is a committee of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (FSRH), which provides strategic oversight for FSRH organised events to ensure they deliver quality educational content for members/delegates. The Committee is now looking for a new CSRH Trainee to join and play a key role in shaping our growing events offering.

Being part of the Events Committee can help you broaden your knowledge of SRH and widen your network of contacts. You will be able to see the direct impact of your work through the delivery of the events programme. It is also a good personal CPD opportunity.

Members of the Events Committee have the opportunity to:

  • Feed into the FSRH’s Events Strategy to ensure our programme meets members/delegates current and future needs.
  • Lead the creation of the FSRH events programmes, with support from FSRH staff and an external events company.
  • Work closely with leading experts in SRH.

The Trainee member of the committee will attend FSRH events, potentially chairing, review and judge applications for bursaries and abstract competitions, and will also have the unique opportunity to coordinate the annual BASHH and FSRH Joint Conference, with the support of the wider committee, Faculty staff and colleagues at BASHH.

The outgoing Trainee member of the Events Committee, Dr Kate Campbell, has shared her personal experience of the role:

“I have been the trainee representative for the Events Committee since early 2021. It felt like a strange time to be thinking about events - I actually missed the first meeting as I was redeployed to COVID ITU.

I can honestly say that it has been and incredibly rewarding and enjoyable experience. And actually focusing on future events was a really positive way to come out of the pandemic mindset.

It has been a challenging time for events planning with the constantly changing rules regarding gatherings and navigating the rapidly expanding virtual world. I have learnt so much.

The committee is made up of very friendly, professional and proactive individuals who it has been a pleasure to work alongside and learn from. Committee members come from different clinical backgrounds e.g. consultants, GP, nurses and midwives working in different regions all united by a passion for sexual and reproductive health. It is also an opportunity to work closely with the fantastic faculty events team.

As the trainee rep I have worked as part of this team through the whole process of event creation from initial decisions about what day of the week, virtual or hybrid, what platforms to use or venue, through to speakers, programme, and schedule timings. I have enjoyed judging abstracts, posters, and presentations.

I felt my voice was heard and my opinions mattered. I have been really encouraged to have a very active role. I have been part of a team to create and deliver two FSRH virtual events and was also given an amazing opportunity to lead on a joint BASHH & FSRH conference as well as chair a hot topic event. The skills and confidence I have developed in committee meetings, event chairing and event creation are really useful in my work life and have helped me achieve curriculum competencies.

This has been a wonderful experience for me and I would strongly recommend it as a role for another trainee.”
