Health Education England (HEE) is consulting on a new workforce strategy for health and social care in England. This is HEE’s first ever system-wide draft strategy in this area and your views are crucial to help shape the SRH workforce of the future.

HEE’s new draft health and social care workforce strategy for England to 2027 was made public in December 2017. HEE wants to hear views from across the country to inform the development of the final strategy, which will be published in July 2018 to coincide with the NHS’ 70th birthday.

The draft strategy sets out the current workforce landscape, what has been achieved since 2012 and describes an approach to shaping the face of the NHS and social care workforce for the next years. It considers the outputs of major workforce plans for the priorities laid out in NHS’ England Five Year Forward View, including primary and community care.

The strategy has been developed by the whole health and care system and it is both an NHS and Public Health England (PHE) document.

How can you join the conversation?

You can provide feedback on the strategy through an online workshop, similar to a forum. Once you have created an account, you are free to comment on others’ ideas and discuss your own. Please note that participation in the online forum is anonymous. The deadline for engaging with HEE is 23 March.

FSRH will also submit its own response to the formal consultation, which will be available here soon.
