Government bodies have issued interim guidance for clinical staff regarding the management of suspected cases of novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV).
The guidance from the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for England, Professor Chris Whitty, NHS England and Public Health England (PHE) includes a message for all clinical staff encountering patients with respiratory infections arrived from overseas. As part of the guidance package, clinicians can also find:
- A flow chart for the management of a suspected case of 2019-nCoV acute respiratory disease outlining assessment questions to identify a patient who may require isolation and testing
- Specific guidance targeted at primary care alongside a Q&A briefing document for primary care providers.
