It’s an exciting time to engage with the FSRH, we are looking at new ways of how we can work to get the best out of ourselves and each other. We are undertaking a Quality Audit of the MFSRH Examination, developing Exam Preparation Courses, and moving to a new improved Exams platform. To support this work, we are looking to recruit to a range of interesting, rewarding roles related to the MFSRH Exams.

About the MFSRH Examination

The MFSRH is a high-stakes exam aligned to the curriculum of the Community Sexual and Reproductive Health (CSRH) specialty training programme. It must be completed as part of the CSRH Training Programme and by CESR applicants who wish to achieve specialty status.  It is also taken by doctors with a special interest in SRH from the UK and globally. 

Opportunities Available

We are looking to recruit to a range of roles either supporting the delivery of the annual MFSRH examinations or supporting candidates who are preparing for these examinations.

Examinations Committee roles

The Examinations Committee is responsible for ensuring the delivery of the annual MFSRH examinations. We are preparing to say goodbye to several Examinations Committee members who have successfully served their terms with us, and so we are looking to recruit into several positions. All Examination Committee roles are for a three-year tenure, renewable for a second three-year tenure at the discretion of the Vice President of Specialty.

To be eligible for an Examinations Committee role, you must meet these criteria:

  • Full registration with the GMC and in good standing
  • Be a member of FSRH by qualification and in good standing
  • Passed MFSRH examination and/or be on the GMC’s GP or Specialist Register in Community Sexual & Reproductive Healthcare, Genito-urinary Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology or Public Health Medicine
  • Have up to date medical knowledge and skills in SRH
  • Have at least two years’ experience as medical educator or examiner

1. Examinations Committee Chair

The Examinations Committee Chair is responsible for leading the examinations committee and ensuring the delivery of the MFSRH examinations. The Chair will:

  • oversee the development, delivery and evaluation of the MFSRH examination across all exam components;
  • uphold quality assurance;
  • review and advise on examination policies and provide leadership to exam convenors.

2. Examinations Committee Vice Chair

The Examinations Committee Vice Chair is responsible for supporting the Chair to lead the examinations committee and ensure the delivery of the MFSRH examinations. The Vice Chair will support the Chair to oversee the development, delivery and evaluation of the MFSRH examination across all exam components; uphold quality assurance; review and advise on examination policies and provide leadership to exam convenors.

3. MFSRH Convenor

The MFSRH Convenor is responsible for one of the papers of the MFSRH Examination and plays a critical role in:

  • the ongoing maintenance and development of question banks;
  • design of examination papers which meet blueprint requirements;
  • standard setting and ratification;
  • delivery of examination papers.

We are currently recruiting Convenors for the Part I SBA and Part II EMQ.

Other Examiner Roles

MFSRH Examiners play an important role in the development and maintenance of the MFSRH question bank, which might include:

  • writing examination questions;
  • reviewing questions;
  • participating in standard setting examination papers.

There is a minimum commitment of one year and Examiners can continue in post for as long as they fulfil the eligibility requirements, remain competent in the exam subjects and keep up to date with examiner training. To be eligible for an Examinations Committee role, you must meet these criteria:

  • Full registration with the GMC and in good standing
  • Be a member of FSRH by qualification and in good standing
  • Passed MFSRH examination and/or be on the GMC’s GP or Specialist Register in Community Sexual & Reproductive Healthcare, Genito-urinary Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology or Public Health Medicine
  • Have up to date medical knowledge and skills in SRH
  • Up to date with appraisals or have evidence of continued professional development

MFSRH Examiner Role Description

Examinations Preparation Roles

The FSRH have committed to supporting all MFSRH candidates to better understand and prepare for the MFSRH exams.  This commitment supports the GMC’s and FSRH’s ambitions to achieve a Fairer Training Culture.

The exact format of the support is to be determined, but will include:

  • Online assets such as videos, podcasts, handbooks and practice questions
  • MFSRH preparation courses for each component of the MFSRH (SBA, KAT and OSCE)

We are seeking highly motivated, healthcare professionals with experience of the MFSRH examination to help us develop this support. Task and Finish Group members will be committed team players who enjoy working collaboratively and who are also able to progress tasks on their own outside of meetings. There is a six-month minimum commitment, cumulating in the delivery of pilot courses. To be eligible for an Task and Finish Group role, you must meet these criteria:

  • Full registration with the GMC and in good standing
  • Be a member of FSRH by qualification and in good standing
  • Have up to date medical knowledge and skills in SRH
  • Up to date with appraisals or have evidence of continued professional development
  • To have experience of the MFSRH examination as a candidate, examiner or educational supervisor

Why engage with us?

All those involved in the development and delivery of the MFSRH Examination or the preparation courses will play an important role in the training and development of CSRH trainees, CESR candidates, and other MFSRH candidates.

In exchange, Members will have the opportunity to develop their own skills in the development and delivery of Examinations or Exam Preparation support. Members will gain valuable insight into the Examination processes and marking, which they will be able to pass on to candidates who they supervise, and other colleagues. We can also award CPD certificates to recognise contributions.

Successful applicants who apply in good time may be invited to attend our in-person Examiners Conference on 15th September in London. We therefore request applicants keep this date free and provisionally request study leave.
