Date: 26 Aug 2021

Type: FSRH News and Information

The FSRH are looking for a group of healthcare professionals with specialist experience in delivering menopause care to contribute to the development of a brand new specialist qualification.

This opportunity is open to FSRH members who are either General Medical Council (GMC) registered doctors or Nurse and Midwifery Council (NMC) registered specialist nurses who are experienced in providing specialist menopause care.

This is a voluntary position that will enable the candidate to be directly involved in the development of a new specialist qualification for healthcare professionals in SRH.

The Menopause Training Working Group is being created to support the redevelopment of the current specialist qualification in Menopause Care to ensure an educationally robust qualification that is fit for purpose. We currently offer the Menopause Care Special Skills Module (SSM) that can be completed at a basic or advanced level and has been offered for 18 years. This qualification is now being reviewed to ensure that it meets the organisational aims and objectives set out in our vision and our strategic plan. To complete the review and relaunch of this specialist qualification, a working group of experienced specialists in Menopause Care is required.
The purpose of the Menopause Training Working Group is to complete a review of the content and assessments of our specialist menopause care qualification, and to support the delivery of a relaunched qualification that meets the needs of the SRH workforce.

We’re recruiting up to five Menopause Training Working Group Members to help us to review and redevelop the curriculum, syllabus, and assessment framework of the current Menopause Care SSM into a new educationally robust qualification.

The role is unpaid and is an excellent opportunity to influence and support the delivery of menopause care across SRH services and general practice.
