FSRH submission to Department of Health consultation on local authority savings to public health budget - August 2015

Type: FSRH Consultation Responses

In this consultation response, FSRH expresses its grave concerns at the governments proposed £200m cut to the public health budget.

FSRH believes these savings have the potential to negatively impact on women's ability to access contraception and questions the financial efficiency of the projected cuts - for every £1 invested in contraceptive care the NHS will save £11 in averted outcomes. Ultimately, these cuts represent a false economy that have the potential to impact on protected characteristic groups and restrict a woman's fundamental right to access contraceptive care.
