FSRH statement: We support Reproductive Justice’s ‘Clap Back on the Contraceptive Patch’ campaign

Type: FSRH Press Releases and Statements

Reproductive Justice has launched a new campaign ‘Clap Back on the Contraceptive Patch’. The campaign seeks to ensure steps are taken to make the contraception patch inclusive by manufacturing it in different skin tones. We welcome the campaign and hope it will help support positive action.
We believe everyone should have access to the full range of contraceptive methods, as part of the fundamental right to have full control over reproductive choices. The tone of the contraceptive patch currently available means it is indiscreet for those with darker skin tones and is therefore often ruled out as a suitable option.
We support efforts within the reproductive healthcare community to expand usability of the contraceptive patch – in line with progress being made in male contraceptive methods.
FSRH will be making representations on this issue, seeking a solution to ensure contraception is made as accessible as possible for all.
