FSRH statement: significant rise in COVID-19 cases and SRH provision

Rates of COVID-19 infections are rising rapidly due to the spread of the Omicron variant, putting additional strain on an already overstretched health service. In this difficult time, it is still important to maintain access to sexual and reproductive healthcare (SRH). FSRH guidance and information is available to support healthcare professionals during this period.

We recognise there will be wide variation in service capacity across the country, with some services continuing to deliver the full range of SRH services whilst others are providing reduced services.

Local services should adopt a flexible, realistic approach looking to adapt provision to balance evidence-based practice with what is manageable – taking team capacity into account, as well as local prevalence of COVID-19 and risk of transmission.
