Type: FSRH Clinical Guidance and Clinical Statements

FSRH has published two new Standards; a new Service Standard for Vasectomy, and updated Service Standard for Medicines Management in Sexual and Reproductive Health Services.

The new Service Standard for Vasectomy is the first such Standard to be published by the Faculty, providing guidance on the best practice for healthcare professionals and commissioners delivering a vasectomy service to ensure safe, efficient, and effective healthcare.

The updated Standard for Medicines Management reflects up-to-date evidence, knowledge, and clinical practice. The document covers the processes and systems for providing medicines to patients within sexual and reproductive health, from the process of prescribing or supplying under a Patient Group Direction (PGD,) through to dispensing, storage, administration, supply, and disposal.

These standards are applicable to individual health professionals, as well as those managing or commissioning Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (SRH) services. They are designed to ensure high-quality patient care is delivered as standard.

Dr Janet Barter, President of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (FSRH), said:

“We are proud to publish the new Service Standard for Vasectomy, and updated Service Standard for Medicine Management.

These Standards are essential for delivering high-quality SRH care, and serve to ensure that patients have the best possible experience while receiving care. We have worked to guarantee the Standards reflect the most up-to-date clinical practice and hope they will be aid service providers in achieving the best standards of care.”
