FSRH Statement: provision of LARC during COVID-19

Posted 25 March 2020

Date: 25 Mar 2020

Type: Covid-19 (Coronavirus)

Where services still have the capacity to do so, they should continue to provide Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) if the risk of not fitting outweighs the risk to the patient and healthcare professional – for example, in emergency situations or for very vulnerable women.

More commonly, services should be looking to extend use of current LARCs (read our COVID-19 related guidelines here and here) or prescribe other forms of contraception following a telephone assessment.

Please access our COVID-19 hub for more guidance and information.
