To mark the International Day of the Girl, the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (FSRH) officially joins the She Decides campaign, a global initiative to promote and enhance the fundamental rights of every girl and woman.
The campaign is aimed at leveraging international support around women and girls’ right to make decisions about their own sexual and reproductive health (SRH). FSRH signed the She Decides manifesto today, which, among other things, calls for women and girls around the world to be provided access to modern contraception, safe abortion care and comprehensive SRH education.
Asha Kasliwal, FSRH President, said:
“As a woman and sexual and reproductive healthcare practitioner, I fully support the She Decides movement to secure and enhance the sexual and reproductive health and rights of women and girls around the world.
When women and girls have access to quality SRH care that enables them to make their own informed decisions about how, when and whether to conceive, the whole society benefits with improved health outcomes in child, maternal and woman’s health.
Above all, access to modern contraception and safe abortion services empower women to plan their lives according to their will, actively contributing to building better and fairer societies.”
