FSRH has published “Better care, a better future: Implementing our Vision for Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare in Northern Ireland”, a plan to support the implementation of our Vision for improved sexual and reproductive healthcare (SRH) for all in Northern Ireland.
The plan was developed by the FSRH Northern Ireland Committee based on a shared understanding that, despite much progress, challenges in SRH provision remain a reality. SRH services are still not adequately funded and not always well located, with often poor facilities and staffing shortages. There is an acute need for integrated care pathways, and funding for training is a particular issue.
The plan offers practical solutions in seven areas to ensure high standards of care: service planning and delivery; high quality workforce; standards of care; evidence-based service delivery; collaborative services and working; leadership; and patient-centred care.
The Northern Ireland Committee will work towards achieving the aims of the plan in collaboration with a variety of stakeholders. The Committee aims to promote the Specialty in Northern Ireland, providing clinical leadership in SRH care across territorial Health Trusts, contributing to local regional and national policy development and implementation as well as sharing good practice.
