There are 4 vacancies for member representatives to sit on our Council
The FSRH Council is our professional membership body of the FSRH, responsible for implementing the our mission and contributing its clinical expertise to meeting long-term goals and aims. The Council is comprised of elected FSRH members and nominated external representatives and plays a key role in shaping and overseeing the work of the Faculty, bringing the member voice and experience into our work.
You can read more about the our governance.
What does this (voluntary) role involve?
This role description (see the bottom of the page) outlines the role of an elected Council member. Council meetings currently take place on a Thursday during the day, three times a year either remotely or in London (once social distancing has eased). In addition to these meetings, there are other opportunities to support our work as a member of Council including representing the Faculty at meetings and getting feedback from members. If elected you would be expected to attend all meetings. If you would like an informal discussion with the CEO, Jane Hatfield, about standing for election for one of these roles, please contact Helen Davies, EA to the CEO via hdavies@fsrh.org to arrange.
How many vacancies are there?
At the AGM in October this year, two of the six elected Member/Fellow representatives of the Council and two of the six elected Diplomate representatives will come to the end of their first terms. Therefore, we have:
to stand for election to Council (which is a voluntary role). This would be a for a 3-year term starting at the end of October, renewable for a further 3 years. Existing representatives are entitled to stand for a second term.
We would particularly welcome applications from nurses, those from minority ethnic groups and those from the South West, North East, Scotland and Northern Ireland as these are currently under-represented on our Council.
1. Please complete the relevant category nomination form (see the bottom of the page) including signatures* from two current Diplomates or Member/Fellows to support your nomination and scan it.
2. Please produce a paragraph (no more than 300 words) to support your application (this will be shared with members if there is an election)
Return your nomination form and wording to hdavies@fsrh.org. This must reach Helen not later than 10:00am Mon 20 July 2020. Due to COVID-19 we cannot accept posted nominations.
*If you are looking for support for your nomination, please do consider posting in our Facebook Group or on the SRH leads forum. If you are unable to secure the signatures please contact Abby Wright-Parkes via awrightparkes@fsrh.org before the deadline and she’ll try to assist you to connect to members to support your nomination.
When the nomination period has lapsed, if the number of members standing for election does not exceed the number of vacancies a ballot will not be held, and the members nominated will be elected. If the number of nominations exceeds the number of vacancies, a list of candidates, together with ballot forms, will be sent to the relevant membership categories with a ballot paper and an online election will be held.
