Under 18 conceptions statistics for July-September 2015 fall by 11% compared to same quarter in 2014

FSRH welcomes the publication of the Office for National Statistics’ quarterly conceptions for women under 18 statistics for England and Wales: July- September 2015.

Whilst the data continues to show a decrease in under 18 conceptions, FSRH is concerned that regional variations in conception rates suggest that the £200 million cut to the public health budget is manifesting itself in restrictions in the provision of, and access to, contraceptive care.

With the imminent announcement of the Chancellor’s Autumn Statement, FSRH calls on the Government to protect the public health budget and back statutory PSHE education in order to ensure that this downward trend in teenage conceptions continues.
