Danish study on maternal use of oral contraceptives and risk of birth defects
FSRH’s Clinical Effectiveness Unit responds to the findings of a Danish database study, published in the BMJ, which finds no significant increase in the overall risk of major birth defects amongst babies whose mothers used oral contraceptives (OC) in the three months prior to conception or in early pregnancy.
