The August edition of the Sexual Health, Reproductive Health and HIV Policy eBulletin is out now. It brings together the latest research and new tools from the sector to support more effective delivery of care, alongside wider policy and clinical developments. The edition covers recent issues relating to abortion care and rights, including the response to the over-turning of Roe v Wade and renewed calls by ourselves and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) for the UK Government to decriminalise abortion. Other updates include a sector statement on monkeypox, the publication of the Women’s Health Strategy in England and the Welsh Government’s publication of a draft HIV action plan for Wales.

In this month’s eFeature Dr Anne Connolly, Chair of the Primary Care Women’s Health Forum, looks at the actions needed to support implementation of the Women’s Health Strategy for England. Dr Connolly highlights the commitment needed at an Integrated Care System (ICS) level to deliver against the recommendations of the Strategy, including proper prioritisation – in line with the ambition of the Strategy – and optimisation of the multi-disciplinary workforce via achievable, modular training.

This month’s eBulletin also covers the launch of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare’s Hatfield Vision – a framework to improve reproductive health outcomes which is endorsed by 29 organisations, new guidelines from the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) on reducing sexually transmitted infections and NHS England’s most recent quarterly coverage data reports on cervical screening in England.
