The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Sexual and Reproductive Health in the UK (APPG) aims to raise awareness in Parliament of the needs of women seeking abortion and the importance of improving all aspects of the sexual health of women and men in the UK.

The APPG is chaired by Baroness Gould of Potternewton and supported by FPA, the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare and the British Association for Sexual Health and HIV.

This APPG, which FSRH supports, and helps develop the Group’s activities through its expert committee, recently held a meeting on ‘The future for abortion: 50 years from the Act’. As the 1967 Abortion Act approaches its 50th anniversary, the APPG brought legal and clinical experts in the field together to assess whether the Act is fit for purpose and explore whether there is a need for legal reform in order to achieve the highest standards of access and care.
