A letter to Specialty and Specialist (SAS) Doctors working in Sexual and Reproductive Health
Date: 16 Oct 2023
Type: FSRH News and Information

Dear Specialty and Specialist (SAS) Doctors working in Sexual and Reproductive Health,
FSRH would like to acknowledge the indispensable contribution all our SAS Doctors working in Sexual and Reproductive Health make and to recognise the important and varied roles you play in providing contraceptive and sexual health services across the UK. We value your expertise and know you are far from an ‘intermediate class of doctor as has sometimes been suggested. We recognise that many of you are working at senior levels, in addition to providing education and leadership within your services and without your significant contributions many sexual and reproductive health services would struggle to provide care.
The FSRH is working hard to support and champion all of our members including our SAS Doctors. We want to support you in your career within sexual health wherever we can.
This year during SAS Week 2023 we are celebrating our SAS community. Please see our latest news here.
Our recently appointed SAS Committee is keen to hear from you if you have any ideas as to where we can improve things or provide further support. Please do get in touch with your regional representative.
Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for everything that you do, for your continued hard work and dedication to providing high-quality sexual and reproductive healthcare despite the many challenges we are currently facing in the NHS. We know that this is not always an easy job, and it is appreciated by everyone at the FSRH and by your many patients who you care for every day.
Yours sincerely,
Dr Janet Barter
President of the Faculty of Sexual & Reproductive Healthcare
Dr Zara Haider
Senior Vice-President, Workforce Strategy of the Faculty of Sexual & Reproductive Healthcare
