FSRH Position Statement on Domestic and Sexual Violence

Our beliefs

Anybody – irrespective of gender, sexuality or age - can experience domestic and sexual violence, this includes honour based violence, forced marriage, coercive control and controlling behaviours. We believe that every individual has the right to live without violence, whether it be physical, emotional or sexual.

Our Vision

We believe there should be a co-ordinated multi-agency approach focussed on prevention and victim support. This approach should start from a young age, educating young people about domestic and sexual violence in all of its forms and their right to a violence-free life. It is our belief that all SRH medical professionals should be able to discuss these issues confidently with their patients and use appropriate referral pathways to provide support for victims or those at risk of domestic and/or sexual violence.
