The FSRH Annual Conference brings together the Sexual & Reproductive Healthcare Community to share cutting-edge knowledge and insights to help improve practice and services in primary care and other settings. In celebration of the 30th Anniversary of the FSRH, this conference reflects on 30 years of clinical excellence and launches the next chapter of innovative SRH.
This year we’ll navigate common but often complex clinical issues through a range of presentations, case-based discussions, and networking opportunities.
To celebrate our 30th anniversary, a drinks reception will be held at the end of the conference, and the inaugural recipient of the new Elphis Christopher Award will be announced. For those that wish to stay later, a dinner will be taking place with a special guest speaker.

Speaker biographies

Dr Janet Barter, President of FSRHFollowing undergraduate training in Sheffield, Janet switched to obstetrics and gynaecology from GP training after realising from work in UK and West Africa the crucial importance of women’s health. Training in O&G included endocrinology, fertility, menopause, PMS, menstrual disorders and medical gynaecology, as well as contraception and abortion. She has expertise in sexual problems work and care of women who have been affected by FGM. During three London Consultant SRH posts Janet has developed clinical and teaching skills across the whole of SRH, and is now Training Programme Director for CSRH in London, and she was Chair of FSRH’s Specialty Advisory Committee. |

Polly Zipperlen MSc, RGN, RNT Polly is a Sexual Health Sister, working in rural West Wales. She holds LoC in IUD and Implants, as well as being a Faculty Registered Trainer and Registered Nurse Tutor. She has a Masters in Enhanced Nursing Practice with a specialist interest in developing advanced clinic expertise among nurses. Polly has recently become a sister in the Welsh Gender Service and guest lectures on the BSc Nursing (Adult) course at Aberystwyth University. Polly is Co-Chair of the FSRH Events Committee and Secretary to BASHH Wales. |

Professor Kevin Fenton CBE PrFPH PhD FRCP Kevin Fenton is the President of the Faculty of Public Health. He is a senior public health expert and infectious disease epidemiologist who has worked in a variety of public health executive leadership roles across government and academia in the United Kingdom and internationally. His specialist interests are in tackling health inequalities, infectious disease prevention and control, climate justice and urban health. Professor Fenton is the Regional Director for London in the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID) within the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC). Within this role, he is also the statutory public health advisor to the Mayor of London and the Greater London Authority and the Regional Director of Public Health for NHS London. He is also the government’s Chief Advisor on HIV and Chair of the HIV Action Plan Implementation Steering Group for England. As President, Kevin works closely with the Academy of Royal Medical Colleges, UK Local Government Association and a wide range of partners who have interests in Public Health. Kevin is committed to working with all 4 Nations of the UK and FPH members across the world. |

Dr Maryam Nasri, FSRH Vice President of Membership Maryam Nasri is a Community Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare consultant and a GP in London and has worked in primary care as a GP and in contraception as a specialist for 17 years. She has worked in primary care, community settings and acute care with a variety of providers. She has worked in many services such as menopause clinics, complex contraception clinics, and integrated clinics with GUM specialists and as a sexual assault officer. Her experience enables her to deliver a holistic and life course approach in her clinical work and gives her a broad insight into delivery of care, patient needs and clinicians’ needs, in primary and specialist care. She has been a faculty trainer for more than ten years, training a wide variety of healthcare professionals in different settings. She has been the VP for membership since 2021 and is responsible for ensuring the FSRH continues to support its members in all categories. She oversees the work of the events and the international committee. |

Dr Zara Haider FRCOG, FFSRH, Dip. GUM Dr Zara Haider has been a Consultant in Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare at Kingston Hospital NHS Trust since October 2012. She is the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare Vice President for Workforce Strategy and CSRH Training Programme Director for London and Educational Supervisor to a CSRH trainee. She is immediate past Chair of the FSRH Meetings Committee. Zara completed her SRH training as a subspecialty trainee at the Margaret Pyke Centre and is a former Darzi Fellow. |

Olivia Hum, GP, BMS Menopause Specialist, member of the BMS Medical Advisory Council Olivia Hum has been a GP Partner at Foundry Healthcare Lewes for 16 years. She is a British Menopause Society accredited Menopause Specialist and trainer, and sits on the Medical Advisory Council of the BMS. She runs the Circle Room, an NHS sexual health and contraception clinic for young people and is on the board of the RCGP Adolescent Health Group. She is the Co-director of Myla Health, a private company offering menopause care and education at various sites across the UK. |

Dr Diana Mansour, Consultant in Community Gynaecology and Reproductive Healthcare Sexual Health, Newcastle HospitalsDr Diana Mansour is a Consultant in Community Gynaecology and Reproductive Healthcare at Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in the UK. She is an Associate Clinical Lecturer at Newcastle University and was recently the Senior Vice President at the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Diana currently sits on the FSRH UKMEC steering group and guideline development group. She is a British Menopause Society recognized specialist and trainer leading recently on development of the Menopause Guidance for the North of England. Diana is first author to over 100 peer-reviewed publications and co-wrote 'Contraception Made Easy' with Dr Laura Percy for those working in general practice and family medicine. Diana’s areas of expertise include acceptability of contraceptive methods, non-contraceptive benefits of contraception, development of long-term methods of contraception, medical management of heavy menstrual bleeding and management of the menopause. |

Dr Charlotte Cohen FRCP, Consultant Genito-urinary Medicine & HIV, Trust Domestic Abuse Lead Charlotte is a Consultant Genito-urinary Medicine & HIV at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. She is the Trust lead for Domestic Abuse and has a wealth of experience in safeguarding, collaborating with stakeholders at regional and national levels. She is a member of the BASHH Sexual Violence SIG and co-chairs the regional Crossing Pathways forum: Integrating Best Practice within Health and Domestic Abuse in collaboration with NHS London. She is committed to education and research around domestic abuse responses in acute health, driving digital transformation at ICS level to support this. Her other specialist interests include reproductive healthcare as a Faculty trainer, vulval dermatology and working closely with Latin-American communities around improving access to SRH & HIV services. |

Laura Hamzic, Director of Digital & Communications, Brook Laura joined Brook in 2014 and has been responsible for leading organisation-wide digital transformation, including the development of the digital front door to Brook’s clinical services. She has also led on a full rebrand and relaunch of the organisation and has strategic oversight of communications, policy and public affairs. Laura joined Brook from NHS.uk where she led on the development of public-facing web and mobile apps. |

Dr Anne Connolly MBE, GPSI in gynaecology, accredited as a hysteroscopist, FSRH trainer and RCGP Women’s Health ChampionAfter a two-year volunteer posting to a under-resourced mission hospital in rural Zimbabwe Anne returned to General Practice in inner-city Bradford in 1990 and is currently working as a GP providing care for asylum seekers, refugees, homeless and sex workers. She is a GPSI in gynaecology , accredited as a hysteroscopist and FSRH trainer and is the RCGP Women’s Health Champion. Previous roles include CCG clinical board member with remit for maternity, women’s, children and young people’s healthcare, FSRH VP Membership and PCWHF Chair. Anne was honoured to be awarded an MBE for her work in women’s health in the 2021 Queens Birthday Honours List. |

Dr Aimee Palace, GP, and Co-Chair of the FSRH Events CommitteeDr Aimee Palace MBChB, MRCGP, DSRH, AFHEA, BSc is salaried GP working in Leicestershire with special interests in women’s health, sexual health, and contraception. Aimee is qualified to fit intra uterine and subdermal contraception. Aimee has been a member of the FSRH Events Committee since 2018 and became co-chair of the committee in January 2023. |

Dr Leila Frodsham, Consultant Gynaecologist & Psychosexual Medicine Specialist Dr Leila Frodsham is a consultant gynaecologist with a special interest in psychosexual medicine and BMS accredited menopause sub specialist. As well as working in obstetrics and gynaecology for more than 20 years, Leila Frodsham has dual membership for the Institute of Psychosexual Medicine (IPM). This lends itself to a special interest in not only sexual dysfunction but also intractable pain disorders – vulvodynia and chronic pelvic pain and tocophobia. Leila’s research was in mother-to-embryo viral transmission in assisted conception (IVF), for which she earned the Promising Young Clinician award from the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) in 2004. She has worked in ambulatory gynaecology for over 10 years and performs outpatient procedures, including hysteroscopy and scanning. She became an Obstetrics and Gynaecology consultant in 2009 and has won numerous awards for excellent patient care and team working. She was awarded Trainer of the Year by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecology (RCOG), Health Education Kent, Surrey and Sussex, in 2015. Special interests: Tocophobia, intractable gynaecological pain disorders including sexual pain, support for couples with difficulty conceiving, male sexual dysfunction, and Menopause. |

Dr Rebecca Cannon, ST3 Trainee in Community Sexual and Reproductive Health Dr Rebecca is an ST3 Trainee in Community Sexual and Reproductive Health in Birmingham. She is the trainee representative for the FSRH Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity Committee. Rebecca has a Medical Degree from the University of Southampton and has gone on to achieve the DFSRH, LoC SDI and IUT, and MFSRH Part 1. She is passionate about contraception and abortion care. |

Dr Kate Campbell, Community Sexual and Reproductive Health Consultant Dr Kate Campbell is a newly appointed community sexual and reproductive health consultant working at Umbrella Sexual Health, University Hospitals Birmingham. She is also the consultant lead for young people. She has a degree in Anthropology from the University of Durham, diploma in tropical medicine, diploma in genitourinary medicine and a diploma in psychosexual medicine. She is the consultant representative on the FSRH events committee. Kate has a specialised interest in complex contraception, postnatal contraception, psychosex and abortion care. Kate is passionate about improving access to sexual and reproductive healthcare both in the UK and internationally.

Conference dinner and networking
The FSRH Annual Conference Dinner will take place at the RCOG, Union Street, from 20:15 on Friday 8 December 2023. When you purchase your conference ticket, you will be given the option to buy a ticket to the conference dinner as an add-on.
The dinner will feature a sumptuous 3-course meal accompanied by a selection of wines and refreshing soft drinks, all set within a festive-themed ambiance.
