International Certificate of Knowledge

The FSRH International Certificate of Knowledge in Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (ICK) is designed to assess the sexual and reproductive healthcare knowledge of doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals based outside UK. 

The programme is based on FSRH standards and guidance. It is composed of an online assessment supported by a number of learning resources including one-year Affiliate (International) Membership to the FSRH.

Candidates will be provided with 1 year's access to learning resources and an online knowledge assessment. Successful candidates will receive a certificate demonstrating they have achieved the required level of knowledge.

Please note that all ICK content and FSRH membership benefits are only available in English.

This programme is relevant to doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals based outside the UK, working in a variety of healthcare settings.

Please note that the learning is based on UK based discussion and practice. It is important that you are prepared to adapt the learning to your own context.

Programme information

What will this programme cover?

This programme will develop and assess your knowledge and understanding in the following areas:

  • Contraception methods, risks and choice 
  • Sexually transmitted infections presentations, diagnosis and management 
  • Early pregnancy assessment and management 
  • Caring for young people

Learning resources to support you

You will have access to a range of learning resources to support you to develop your knowledge in other related areas such as female genital mutilation. Learning resources include:

The learning will support you to prepare for the online assessment and improve your wider sexual and reproductive health knowledge and understanding.

How you will be assessed

To gain your certificate you must successfully complete the online assessment which forms part of the International e-SRH.

The online assessment is comprised of 50 multiple choice questions, with a set pass mark of 80%. It can be taken at your convenience within the 1 year timeframe. The assessment takes 60 minutes and must be completed in one sitting. You can repeat the assessment as many times as you like, as it is designed to support your own learning and development.  

The International Certificate of Knowledge is not recertifiable, which means you will not be required to resit it at a future date. Renewing your membership with us enables you to continue access to your Affiliate (International) Membership benefits and also supports your CPD.

Please note, this assessment does not contribute towards our UK based qualifications.

Please note that this assessment is only available to those living/working outside of the UK. 

What are the costs?

Registration costs £150, payable by credit or debit card. This will provide you with:

  • 1 year FSRH Affiliate (International) Membership 
  • 1 year access to the International eSRH plus additional learning resources 
  • Access to an online knowledge assessment to be completed within the 1 year period

 

Payment and registration

Payment will be taken at the time of registration. Once your registration and payment has been confirmed you will receive an email from FSRH regarding access to your membership benefits within 2 working days, and you will receive your login details for the International e-SRH within 7 working days. 

Please note that your International e-SRH account will be closed after 1 year.

Who is this assessment for?

The International Certificate of Knowledge in Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (ICK) is designed for doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals based outside of the UK.

What benefits are included in FSRH Affiliate (International) Membership?

You will be given 1 year Affiliate (International) Membership to the FSRH as part of this package. This includes access to a number of resources that will support you in progressing this programme and your wider knowledge of sexual and reproductive healthcare.

At the end of the programme we encourage to renew your membership to help you to maintain your sexual and reproductive healthcare knowledge and skills.

How can I pay?

As part of the registration process you will be asked to make a payment of £150 by credit or debit card. No other forms of payment are accepted.

How should I prepare for the assessment?

Once you have registered, you will be given access to a range of learning resources to support you. The primary learning resource is the online International e-SRH that includes a wealth of knowledge, scenarios and knowledge tests to help you prepare. 

The learning can take a number of hours. We suggest you give yourself plenty of time to plan and prepare your learning before your take the assessment.

If you complete your assessment before the 1 year period has ended, you will still have access to the learning resources and membership for the remaining time. This will enable you to continue to build your knowledge as well as getting to know the sexual and reproductive healthcare community better.

Do I get a score/feedback?

The pass mark is 80%. If you do not achieve this, you will be given your percentage score as an indicator. Please note that no other feedback will be given. 

How will I receive my certificate?

Once you have successfully completed the online assessment you will be able to access your certificate immediately through the international e-SRH website.
