FSRH Diploma: A nurse’s view

Nurse Emma Toy shares her views on completing our Diploma as part of a pilot last year.

Taking the FSRH’s redesigned Diploma (DFSRH) was a very positive experience for me. Throughout the qualification, I worked closely with my trainer, one of our experienced doctors. Regular observations enabled me to develop a deeper understanding in all the assessed areas and the clinical guidance that underpins our work - while also forging a great friendship with my colleague.

The assessment day was a little daunting(!) but I ensured I was prepared and it was delivered in a professional and supportive way.

I’m now six months on from completing my DFSRH and I feel competent in my role. The journey throughout my qualification has been a very organised and supportive process. I’ve gained excellent knowledge and understanding to deliver safe and professional contraceptive advice.

I would recommend the DFSRH to anyone considering it.
