Dr Matthew Grundy-Bowers is a Consultant Nurse in HIV/Sexual Health and Senior Lecturer in Advanced Clinical Practice at City, University of London.
Matthew started working in HIV/Sexual Health in 1994 and became one of the first four nurse practitioners in genito-urinary medicine in the country in 1997.
Matthew received an Imperial College Charity Non-Medical Research Award (2009) and a prestigious National Institute for Health Research Clinical Doctoral Research Fellowship (2010) for his research exploring sexual risk taking among MSM. Matthew has an international publication portfolio and edited the book ‘Advanced Clinical Skills for GU Nurses’, published by Wiley.
He is the current co-chair of the STIF committee and has been leading the ACP (Integrated Sexual Health/HIV) curriculum and credentialing project (British Association for Sexual Health & HIV, Faculty of Sexual & Reproductive Health, & National HIV Nurses Association). Nationally, he is on the HEE ACP operationalization committee, the consultant practice apprenticeship, and enhanced clinical practitioner working groups.
