FSRH Workforce Report 2023

We’re pleased to share our Workforce Report 2023. Aiming to shed light on the current landscape of the sexual and reproductive healthcare (SRH) clinical workforce, the report examines both the strengths and the areas where improvement is needed.

The report brings together two key data sets; our membership database, and the workforce-relevant responses to this year’s All-Member Survey.

Analysed together, these two data sets have identified key findings, challenges, and opportunities facing the SRH clinical workforce in the UK in 2023, enabling us to set out key recommendations to serve as a crucial resource for policymakers, healthcare organisations, educators, and professionals working SRH.

Zara Haider

Dr Zara Haider, VP Workforce, said “It gives me great pleasure to share with you the FSRH Sexual and Reproductive Health Workforce Report 2023. This report will inform our future FSRH Workforce Strategy and serve as a powerful resource for FSRH advocacy work. As we strive to support the SRH workforce in the UK, the findings of the report regarding the pressures faced by our members and the looming retirement cliff are stark messages to policymakers, commissioners and employers and a call for action to bolster our workforce so that it is fit for purpose and able to meet the SRH needs of the populations it serves.”

Gary Waltham

Gary Waltham, CEO, said “We extend our sincere thanks to our members for sharing their information and feedback to support the production of this report. It highlights significant challenges – most notably, an intention to retire potentially outpacing the in-take of new clinicians. However, it also highlights the many opportunities for us to support and develop the workforce and enable high quality SRH care for all.”
