Membership Categories

Fellowship:  Every Fellow shall :

  1. be a medical practitioner whose qualifications are registrable with the General Medical Council of the United Kingdom or are approved by the Council (at its discretion).
  2. fulfil the requirements for election to Fellow set out by the Council in rules.
  3. be elected by the Council to be a Fellow.

The award of the Fellowship of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare is an honour which recognises many years of loyal service as a Member in the specialty of contraception and sexual health. 248 Fellows were admitted at the first awards ceremony in 2005, which was held at the RCOG. To date 651 doctors have accepted this award.

Honorary Fellowship:

    On the recommendation of the Council, the Faculty in General Meeting may bestow Honorary Fellowship on persons of eminence who have rendered exceptional services to the science or practice of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare. Honorary Fellows need not be medically qualified.

Member:  Every Member shall:

  1. be a medical practitioner whose qualifications are registrable with the General Medical Council of the United Kingdom or are approved by the Council (at its discretion).
  2. satisfy the Council in an assessment set in accordance with regulations which the Council shall make from time to time.
  3. be elected by the Council to be a Member of the Faculty
(MFSRH EXAMINATION)

Diplomate:  Every Diplomate shall:

  1. be a medical practitioner whose qualifications are registrable with the General Medical Council of the United Kingdom or are approved by the Council (at its discretion).
  2. satisfy the Council in an assessment set in accordance with regulations which the Council shall make from time to time.
  3. be elected by the Council to be a Diplomate of the Faculty.

Associate:

    Persons not medically qualified but who have made an important contribution to and are working in the sphere of the Faculty and medical practitioners who are permanently retired from clinical practice, due to age or ill health, may on application to the Council be accepted for Associate Membership.
